Summer wouldn’t be summer without car shows! Row upon row of finely presented automotive perfection and (God willing) the rare sight of the British sun. With the car scene being split into more and more separate fields (pun intended), it can be hard to find a car show to suit everyone, let alone an even that you can take the family to. Carfest is the answer to all of this! What’s more, the entire event is in aid of BBC Children in Need charity, ensuring your money goes to a worthy cause.

Former Top Gear presenter, petrolhead and all round nice guy Chris Evans; Carfest brings together a family friendly day out, a car show, a music festival and an atmosphere you’d be hard pressed to find elsewhere. The upcoming Northern event showcases much more than your average summer car show.

Featuring a real festival atmosphere with three nights of live music from artists such as Busted, The Happy Mondays, The Kaiser Chiefs, Manic Street Preachers, and best of all Rick Astley, you won’t be let down.

One feature of Carfest sure to get any petrolhead’s motor running is the track action, and this year it has been themed globally. The “CAR-NATIONS” sprint features over sixty cars from worldwide manufacturers, and not just run of the mill hatchbacks either! The legendary Aston Martin Vulcan will be making an appearance for Britain, along with the 2004 BAR Honda F1 car, and even a vintage stock car from the USA – let’s hope there’s not too many corners for that last one!

That’s not all on offer, alongside the myriad of car club displays and a ‘vintage village’ for all things retro, there is also the return of the Sporting Bears. Raising money for charity in exchange for a passenger ride in either the cool Ferrari California 30, the race ready Lola T70, or the record breaking Jaguar XJ220, there’s never been a better reward for donating your hard-earned cash.

“But what if you don’t like cars?!” I hear you cry. Coming back to the aforementioned family fun aspect, there’s plenty of activities to choose from that don’t involve high octane fuel and burning rubber. Starting with the Carfest Kitchen with demonstrations from well-known chefs for the foodies amongst you, Bolesworth International Horse Show and the British Canoeing Association (at the lake of course) for the outdoorsy types; and leading to the incredible Carter’s Steam Fair, The World’s Biggest Custard Pie Fight for those more adventurous of you, and the “Dome of Discovery” and duck race for those of you with younger kids. There’s literally something for everyone here!

Now to the bit we know you’ve been waiting for! Along with the Hot Wheels stunt driver and other displays, we have our very own Paul ‘Smokey’ Smith and Matt ‘Doorhunter‘ Carter putting on a mind blowing display. Expect lots of skill, smoke, and speed with over 1500bhp on tap between the two cars, expect the Maxxis VR1 tyres to be obliterated within seconds! Don’t worry, because we have plenty more of these excellent tyres to fulfil the need for smoke and sideways action. Also in attendance will be the 500bhp Japspeed Lexus IS200, so there will be no shortage of power on our behalf.
