What an amazing weekend! Without a doubt one of the most manic weekends to date, with Shane and Baggsy drifting up in Knockhill, Scotland and Shane O’Sullivan with Team Japspeed Ireland taking part in Prodrift Round 4 @ Mondello Park. For Round 4, Mondello featured a clockwise course allowing a 100mph entry down the main straight through Turn 1 and Adelaide Corner (Turn 2). This course was much longer than the one usually used, with the cars passing the main straight grandstand at speed rather than finishing there.
With a fresh set of Maxxis MA-Z1 Drift tyres and clutch issues from BDC Round 3 now sorted Shane and the team were more than ready to attack Prodrift – one of the toughest series with some of the world’s best drifters competing. Saturday saw practice and qualifying, and with the rain bucketing down conditions were seriously unpredictable. Luckily the MA-Z1s provide plenty of grip in all conditions, qualifying him through to the twin battles in just his 4th Prodrift outing in the Japspeed S15!
Through to Sunday and with the weather conditions getting (slightly) better Shane made short work in the twinnings instatly going through to the final eight. Next dismissed was Alan Sinnott seeing Shane go through to the final 4 again! Although unable to get into the final, Shane made sure he didn’t lose out on the Podium this time pulling off one of the best runs we’ve ever seen – fully backwards after reaching nearly 100mph down the Mondello Park straight! A well-deserved 3rd place and Team Japspeed’s second podium place in just a couple of weeks. Oh and to top it all off, Shane also took the top qualifying spot in the Super Lap battle – can’t get better than that!
Make sure you see Shane and the Team @ Round 5, easily one of the best upcoming drivers really proving his skill in the Prodrift series. Good work Shane!
