Team Japspeed at CarFest 2013

Here at Japspeed we’re always keen to attend new events, so when the opportunity to take part in CarFest North arose we jumped at the opportunity.

CarFest North and South are held annually in support of the Children in Need charity and are hosted by the BBC’s self-confessed car fanatic Chris Evans, with the events being organised with nothing but fun in mind.

The events give attendees the chance to get up close and personal with hundreds of classic and exotic cars, along with Chris’ very own extensive collection of rare pieces of automotive history.

Of course, it wouldn’t be a car show without some decent on track action, and Team Japspeed drivers Paul Smith and Brett Castle were only too happy to oblige when it came to putting on a brace of thrilling drift demonstrations on the Oulton Park circuit.

The crowds lapped up the smoke and noise from the 1JZ powered S15 and 2JZ powered IS200, the drift action being a welcome addition to the day’s proceedings that included a 100 car strong Aston Martin parade in order to celebrate the company’s centenary celebrations.

We also brought along our VH45DETT powered S15 to go on show in the display area alongside the Japspeed EP3 Civic Type-R project that was making its long awaited show debut (it also made the journey to and from Oulton Park under its own steam as it’s still road legal!).

The weekend was not just about the cars though, and the live music on Saturday night was thoroughly enjoyed by the tens of thousands of attendees.

We’d like to thank Chris Evans and the whole of the CarFest organising team for inviting us to take part in such a fun and chilled out event – it made a change to be drifting without any of the pressures that come with a competition. That’s all change next weekend though as we head to Lydden Hill for Round 4 of the 2013 Maxxis British Drift Championship – we’ll see you there!
