READY FOR GLOBAL WAR[FARE]

Round 3 of the Irish Drift Championship exploded onto the circuit at Mondello Park on June 1st-2nd and Japspeed sponsored driver Peden Nielsen [Peden 249] was there with his incredible ‘Drift Games’ 180sx weapon.

With over 3 million expected viewers online and the Mondello Park venue filled to bursting with eager spectators Ireland’s best drifters took on the International might of Drift GP to retain their undefeated streak on home soil for Global Warfare 4!

Kicking off the weekend with practice Peden donned his Traxedo and took the circuit in his trademark style. The IDC is of course no stranger to concrete walls and tight technical tracks however for 2017 the judges have clearly outdone themselves.

“4th gear flat out to clutch kick entry…The Irish Drift Championship #GlobalWarfare4 track is insane!”

With practice a success Peden spent the Saturday supporting Pro-Am teammates and taking some time out to ensure the 180sx was on top form for the main event.

Fast forward to Sunday and putting into effect everything he had learned from the day before Peden put down a pair of incredible Qualifying runs; filling the air with smoke and the songs from that bulletproof SR20DET engine - a performance that earned him 7th place Qualifier in a grid of 60 pro drivers.

Onto the battles and straight into the top 32 against Keilan Woods who unfortunately suffered significant mechanical issues forcing him to retire and handing the place in the top 16 to Peden.

Heading into top 16 and Peden would be pitched to represent the IDC against Drift GP driver Enver Haskasap in his 2JZ-powered Nissan S15. Unfortunately an error on Peden’s lead run would hand the advantage to the International guest. Despite an incredible chase run including a few friendly bumper taps Peden’s weekend would be brought to a premature close.

An incredible event; everyone at Japspeed would like to congratulate Duane McKeever, Tomas Kiely and Jack Shanahan for taking the podium at this event!
