Team Japspeed are proud to announce their collaboration with Monster Energy Drinks for the upcoming 2012 season. Having sponsored Japspeed for the past two years, Monster Energy are taking the support up another level by baking their own Monster-liveried drift car, set to compete in both the British Drift Championship and Prodrift series driven by Ireland’s Shane O’Sullivan.
‘This is huge news not just for Team Japspeed, but also professional European drifting.’ explains team Principal Paul McCallum. ‘Monster Energy is all about extreme sports, and they don’t come much more exciting than competitive drifting. To have such a key brand on board and backing their own car for the 2012 season is simply phenomenal given their involvement within other motorsports including Rallycross and WRC – we cannot wait to start working with them.’
The Japspeed/Monster S15 is powered by a 450bhp RB25 engine transplanted from an R33 Skyline, and is maintained by Japspeed’s Irish division. Driver Shane O’Sullivan has shown immense skill throughout 2011 including podium finishes, and with the car freshly overhauled he’s going to be a serious match in 2012.
