JAPSPEED GT86 BREAKS COVER

The Japspeed JZ86 has finally broken cover at Spring Matsuri 2017 for its first test day…..and it was worth the wait! The car was brought out for testing in its raw form with the carbon Kevlar still bare; exposing the rear quarter panels.

The Japspeed GT86 uses a 620BHP 1.5JZ power plant with a 6 speed Quaife sequential gearbox transmitting the power through a triple carbon plated Exedy clutch and finally through an extremely tough Winters differential.

This reliable combination made for a full weekend of non-stop drifting. The open track event provided Paul ‘Smokey’ Smith with maximum seat time to get to grips with his 2017 competition drift weapon. The team were also able to get the suspension tuned and dialled in with a full alignment and corner weighting set up so the GT86 could be pushed to its true potential.  Following a few changes throughout the weekend the JZ86 increased in pace and Paul ‘Smokey’ Smith got more accustomed with the car; throwing in more angle and speed with every run.

With a successful first test completed we are looking forward to returning to Rockingham for Round 1 of the British Drift Championship on 25th-26th March! Make sure you get down to see the JZ86 in action along with the 370Z and R32 Skyline!
