BIG CHANGES FOR 2016

2016 is set to be a phenomenal year for Team Japspeed. With 12 months of build, preparation and testing of Shane Lynch’s supercharged 370z set to make an appearance at BDC Round 1 as well as Paul ‘Smokey’ Smith’s  JZ-powered GT86 arriving on the grid later in the year it is with great excitement that we can now announced further changes for the season ahead.

Throughout his 10 year career Matt has proven himself as one of the very best drivers in Europe. With an aggressive driving style and a tendency to position himself directly on the door of his opponent; Matt’s drifting style has seen some of the greatest, most exciting battles ever played out in UK drifting. His driving talent has seen him not only claim the 2011 British Drift Championship title but also helped to extend the reach of the sport.

His driving talent has seen him build great relationships with the media and broadcasting. Having been highlighted in a wide variety of media, Matt’s career has seen him perform for BBC Top Gear however perhaps the greatest of these accolades was teaching Johnny Smith how to drift for Channel 5’s Fifth Gear.

The 700+ BHP 1.5JZ R32 that Matt pilots has visited some faraway places too! Providing live drift demonstrations at some of Europe’s biggest events has seen Matt and the R32 viewed sideways by over half a million spectators in 2015. He’s been lucky enough to have drifted the Nürburgring’s Nordschleife as the opening feature of the Nürburgring N24H Race, taking on arguably the most challenging and most dangerous race track in the world!

Having tried out a set of Maxxis Tyres earlier this year, Matt was clearly impressed with the levels of grip they provide and can’t wait to get out there in competition with them. We are sure you will agree Matt’s history in drifting makes him the perfect addition to Team Japspeed. Boasting 3 Championship wins between them and the only team to win back to back Team Constructors Championships we are looking forward to smoking some Maxxis Tyres and taking home the win in 2016!

“I’m very excited to be joining Team Japspeed and can’t wait to get out and hunt some doors this season”
