Modified National Madness with Team Japspeed!

The Modified Nationals in the UK have gained legendary status over the years, having been held numerous times every year since before we can remember!

With thousands of cars on display and a live action arena laid on by our friends at Maxxis, Team Japspeed driver Paul Smith was in attendance to put on a number of drift demonstrations along with a selection of other drifters.

Due to his S15 currently undergoing an engine overhaul our 2JZ powered Lexus IS200 was called upon for two days of skidding duty. Having just undergone a large amount of work itself (not to mention a fresh remap to a safe 500bhp) the Lexus was raring to go having been confined to our workshop for the last few months.

With so many spectators present and plenty of demonstration runs to do it was vital that Paul could rely on the Lexus to destroy as many Maxxis tyres as possible without any hiccups and, thanks to hours of hard work from Ant and Matt in the workshop, that is exactly what happened.

Plenty of fans also took the time to come and meet Paul, collect autographs from himself and the other drifters and also check out the cars. The 2JZ swap into an IS200 is still fairly rare conversion on UK shores so many people took the opportunity to study it up close.

Overall the guys had a whale of a time soaking in everything the first Modified National of 2013 had to offer and the crowds thoroughly enjoyed being able to watch some the UK’s best drifters going toe to toe within the relatively tight confines of the track layout. Our attentions have now turned to round 2 of the 2013 Maxxis British Drift Championship which will be held at Pembrey in a few weeks time. We’ll see you there!
