Team Japspeed win 2011 Maxxis BDC Constructors Championship!

After a year which has taken Team Japspeed across the whole of the UK it’s safe to say Round 6 of the Maxxis British Drift Championship has proved to be the ultimate end to the season. Not only did driver Steve Biagioni take second place on the podium in the 1JZ Impreza, but the constructors championship was also crowned after an astonishing performance from the whole team.

Until Round 6 Team Falken had dominated the constructors title right from the start, but with Japspeed just a few points behind everyone pulled out all the stops to secure such a prestigious title. Along with Steve’s second plane, Shane Lynch and Paul Smith qualified first and second which, when combined with their strong performances throughout the rest of the year, gave Japspeed the top sot by two points – and it couldn’t be more deserved!

‘Every driver wants to become the series champion, but the constructors title represents so much more for the huge team involved with Japspeed’s drift division’ explains manager Paul McCallum. ‘Quite simply this could not have been possible without the help from our dedicated team and our 2011 sponsors – Maxxis Tyres have once again provided us with an astonishing championship-winning tyre, the MAZ1 definitely giving us the edge over our competition’.

2011 introduced a range of new sponsors to Team Japspeed including Monster Energy, Rock Oil, Meguiars Car Care and Quaife Engineering. Each sponsor has played a significant part in Japspeed’s success throughout the season, and we thoroughly look forward to working with them again in the future. ‘We have three superb cars, three superb drivers and a hugely dedicated team’ added Paul. ‘We are proud to be one of the biggest and hardest-working teams in the BDC, here’s to an even better 2012!’
