Well what a difference a weekend makes! After a third place at BDC Round 3 the whole of Team Japspeed were buzzing and hungry for more… well Round 4 at Knockhill DEFINITELY delivered! Although we didn’t take the overall win, we did take a total of three separate awards including a third place for Shane Lynch in the V8 S15 which pitted him against Baggsy in the 1JZ Impreza… at least we were guaranteed a podium.
That said, we’ve got to say a massive congratulations to everyone’s favourite hair-stylist Steve ‘Baggsy’ Biagioni for FULLY stepping up the driving – it’s been two years of constant development in the Impreza with two different engine setups (and a theft) but we’ve finally got the Impreza resembling a championship-winning car, and lets not forget Baggsy is the 2009 champ. After a weekend of seriously aggressive driving Baggsy took home the ‘Hard Charger’ award which, when you consider the nature of drifting, is a pretty serious award to be crowned with. So well deserved and we can’t wait to see the Impreza at Silverstone next month.
And then (because a podium and hard charger award wasn’t enough) all three drivers absolutely nailed the Team Drift battles to take the top spot overall for Team Japspeed. It’s so rewarding to see all three cars performing spectacularly after so much development, especially Shane and Steve’s cars which have undergone the most extensive work since the 2010 season.
So three awards in just one weekend – without a doubt our most-successful weekend in 2011 so far! We’re still hunting for that first win this year, and all three drivers have serious amounts of experience at Silverstone. Make sure you come along for the Trax show to support the BDC – it’s going to be huge!
